Chernivtsi National University, one of the leading higher educational institutions in Ukraine, was founded on the 4-th of October, 1875.

By Decree of the State Accreditation Commission from April, 7^th, 2008 (Accreditation certificate series РД-IV № 259818) Chernivtsi University was accredited with the highest IV level of accreditation.

By decision of Session of Council of European University Association, held in Brussels on January 15^th, 2009, Yuri Fedkovich Chernivtsi National University was granted a full individual membership in European University Association.
